Building the world of LITB with Tesla in mind
One of the challenges we have faced is creating a world with Tesla still in it. Since the monolithic building that houses MorganClyffe Utility plays a prominent role in “Lightning In The Bottle”, Production Designer Flynn Smith set out to create a building that reflected the ideals of Tesla and remained true to the mythos in our alternate history.
Inspiration – Great write up on Tesla’s inventions from io9
Great source of our inspiration was the amazing concepts and speculation behind the developments/creations of Nikola Tesla. Great write up from the team at io9.com that covers some of the “fun” stuff.

Exclusive First Look – Matte Painting render of scene 1:shot 10 from Lightning In The Bottle
Artist/VFX super Josh Johnson put this together over the course of a couple of days. This is a mockup of scene 1:shot 10 from the film. The building designs and dirigibles in the background were a collaboration between Josh and Production Designer Flynn Smith.

Production Still
Francis is reading a telegram regarding his upcoming appointment to entertain the Vice Chancellor of Propaganda and Development of MorganClyffe Utility. In the background you can see the calendar has a red 19th. There are additional telegrams on the wall, postcards from the 1930′s and 40′s plus a news article with the headline “Titanic makes its 400th voyage!”.
Behind the Scenes Photographs – Lightning In The Bottle
Whew… principal production was amazing. Listed below is a link to our photo album via photobucket. It was truly an amazing experience to work with such a dedicated cast and crew. Now comes the fun of post production. To date we have nearly 300 vfx shots planned out. That’s quite a bit for a film with the running time of 15 minutes. Guess we should put an extra pot of joe on.
